About Fiona Myers Personal Trainer

Christchurch Personal Trainer- Fiona Myers, PTFi

Like a lot of the good things that happen to us in our lives, what was to be my Fiinevitable journey into the fitness industry wasn't completely obvious to me at the onset of my working life. I guess my story is similar to the experiences my clients have when they tell me about all the things they have tried, before they simply realise that good, fun, workouts and sound diets are the best way for them to satisfy their goals.

We are all look for that 'perfect fit' and early on in my working life I thought my calling was going to be in early childhood education. After leaving school, I studied and then went to work within early childhood centres and as a nanny. After five years my interest and enthusiasm waned and I knew had to start re-exploring my options. To buy some time I ended up moving into a reception role within a hotel. While I knew that hospitality was never going to give me the career satisfaction I was looking for, it did provide me with the all the opportunity I needed to start within what I think has to be one of the most rewarding industries in the world.

Whilst working in hospitality I took time to sit down and figure out what I was truly passionate about in my life. What was it I enjoyed spending my time doing?  I knew I had always had the self-disciple to eat well and the self-motivation to maintain my own fitness levels - as well as a keen interest in exploring all the ways I could find to do so without getting bored or not maintain my progress. I also knew that most people needed and liked having a little additional motivation, direction and support so they can experience the satisfaction that can only come from having your health and a certain level of personal fitness that lets you truly enjoy life. Not to mention reward that comes from simply looking fit and feeling good. I wanted to, and I knew I could, help other people experience this.  So I set some myself some goals and as they say, the rest is history!

I got my start in the fitness industry in 2000 with a job on a gym's front desk.  I studied hard for my Cert F.I.T. qualifications through Christchurch Polytechnic, first at night school & them fulltime and as I studied I managed to move from the reception into the gym, where I started as a gym instructor. Loving my new career and in need of further challenges my husband and I decided to move from Christchurch to Auckland in 2004.  My challenge was twofold. One to become the Gym Coordinator of one of New Zealand's leading Women’s only gyms and the other to complete my Diploma in Sport Studies through Otago University. What challenges they were. Both of them really pushed me to discover new things about myself and about what I truly was capable of as well as how I could make lasting differences to people's lives.  As I trained my clients & ran the gyms outdoor 12 week challenges I knew my purpose truly was to empowering women through health and fitness.

Still loving everything about my career, but now missing Canterbury & our families we returned home in 2006. Back within one of the best cities in the world and working within one of its greatest industries I continue to work hard, finding the best methods to get Christchurch women the results you're seeking while making sure that you actually enjoy the experience. I continue to research and study different approaches as well as updating my exercise library with exercises specific to women and our needs. When you train with me you can be sure you will get the best training systems, advice, and workouts that are never boring, enabling you get the best possible results while having as much fun as possible.

My journey has reinforced to me what many people will have heard many times before. If we truly make the decisions to go after the things we want and the things we are truly passionate about, then with focused hard work we can get the satisfaction we are all looking for.
